Vaasa Green Leaf - kaupungin TKI -kyvykkyyden kasvun vuosi

The City of Vaasa aims to make significant progress in its international project capabilities,
taking advantage of the networking opportunities offered by the European Green Leaf 2026
label. Currently, the competitive EU funding and international project cooperation are not fully
available in Vaasa and the city’s role in the projects needs to be strengthened, also drawing on
the expertise and capabilities of the surrounding actors. The Vaasa Green Leaf – Year of Growth
in the city’s RDI Capability project aims to strengthen the City of Vaasa’s position as an active
player in international research, development and innovation (RDI) projects and to significantly
increase EU project funding in the region, especially through international funding.

The project will also emphasise the visibility of the city to the international community and the
opportunities for the various actors in the city to participate in Green Leaf Year activities. The
project aims to increase the city’s RDI capacity, improve its international and national visibility in
Vaasa’s strategic priorities, develop a systematic approach for the city to prepare, manage and
embed international projects, fully exploit the networking opportunities offered by the European
Green Leaf 2026 label and raise awareness of the city’s strengths in the clean transition and
environmental sector among different actors.
